Have you ever wondered how to strategically contribute to a cause you care about and how to convince others to care as well? In this 1-credit Student-Initiated Course, you will be able to apply your knowledge to designing a campaign that can make tangible differences while staying true to your core values. We will explore various scenarios and hold discussions on ethics to help you better understand the different components of running an ethical campaign. Our assignments and activities will allow for you to have hands-on engagement with different target audiences at UMD to create and test your own ethical campaign.
• Learn from advocates about facilitating difficult dialogue
• Use active learning methods such as simulations, scenarios, visualization, and class discussion to understand issues related to campaigns
• Hear firsthand experiences about running campaigns
Throughout the semester you'll apply what you're learning to design your own campaign. We'll explore the different functions and methods it takes to run a campaign with ethics in mind.
